Jo Blythe: ITV Weather Presenter, Career, Family, Age & Life

Jo Blythe is a familiar face on British television, especially for viewers in North West England who regularly watch ITV weather forecasts. Over the years, she has built a long broadcasting career based on clear communication, warmth, and a friendly on-screen personality.

Although weather forecasting is her best-known role, Jo Blythe’s television work extends beyond studio forecasts. She has appeared in regional programmes, outdoor features, documentaries, and charity activities. Her public profile has also grown through social media, where she shares a more relaxed side of her life.

At the same time, several details about her personal life remain unclear or private. Information about her marriage, exact earnings, parents, siblings, and home location is not reliably documented. This article focuses on information that can be reasonably supported while separating confirmed details from online claims.

Who Is Jo Blythe?

Jo Blythe is a British television weather presenter associated primarily with ITV News Granada. She has worked with ITV since 2001 and has become particularly familiar to audiences across North West England.

As a television weather presenter, her job involves explaining current conditions and upcoming forecasts in a way that viewers can quickly understand. You can learn more about the wider role of television weather broadcasting through Wikipedia’s page on weather forecasting.

Jo’s presentation style is generally conversational rather than highly technical. She combines forecast information with a friendly personality, helping audiences understand how weather could affect everyday activities such as commuting, travel, school, and outdoor plans.

It is worth noting that Jo is commonly described online as a meteorologist. However, reliable public sources generally identify her as a weather presenter or weather forecaster. There is no strong publicly available evidence confirming a university meteorology degree or formal Met Office training.

Jo Blythe’s Name and Professional Identity

Jo Blythe is the professional name she uses in television and on social media.

Her Instagram account has used the username @joannablythe, which has led some websites to refer to her as Joanna Blythe. However, ITV and her public X account identify her as Jo Blythe.

Because her full legal name has not been clearly established through an official biography, Jo Blythe remains the most reliable name to use when referring to her professionally.

How Old Is Jo Blythe?

Jo Blythe’s date of birth is commonly reported online as 6 May 1980. If that date is accurate, she would be 46 years old in 2026.

However, her exact date of birth has not been clearly confirmed by ITV through an official biography. For that reason, the date should be treated as widely reported rather than definitively verified.

Her birthplace is also not firmly established through a reliable primary source.

Jo Blythe’s ITV Career

Joining ITV Weather

Jo Blythe began presenting weather forecasts for ITV in 2001. Her career has included work across several regional ITV services, including areas connected with Granada, Yorkshire, Border, Tyne Tees, and Calendar.

Her long association with ITV Granada helped establish her as a recognizable weather presenter in North West England.

Over the years, her role has included television forecasting, regional reporting, online weather content, and special features.

Work on Granada Reports

One of Jo Blythe’s most recognizable professional associations is Granada Reports, ITV’s regional news service for North West England.

Her forecasts cover much more than temperatures. Depending on the conditions, she explains rainfall, wind, frost, snow, sunshine, pressure changes, and other weather developments.

A regional forecast also requires attention to local conditions. Roads, coastal areas, hills, towns, and rural communities can all experience different weather, making local knowledge important.

National Television Appearances

Jo has also been connected with national ITV programming and other television services. Her broadcasting credits and appearances have included programmes and news bulletins such as:

• ITV Lunchtime News
• ITV Evening News
• GMTV
• This Morning
• Regional ITV weather bulletins

Working at both regional and national levels requires different approaches. A national forecast needs to summarize conditions across the United Kingdom, while regional broadcasting allows more time for local detail.

A Brush with the Mersey

One interesting part of Jo Blythe’s television career came through A Brush with the Mersey, a five-part Granada documentary series broadcast in 2004.

Jo co-presented the programme with artist Richard Carman. The series followed the River Mersey and explored its history, scenery, communities, and cultural character.

While Carman focused on creating artwork during the journey, Jo helped tell the stories behind the places they visited.

The programme demonstrated that her television skills were not limited to weather presentation. She was also comfortable with travel, regional storytelling, history, and outdoor filming.

Jo Blythe’s Outdoor and Environmental Features

Jo has participated in several television features involving Britain’s countryside and natural environment.

One notable example involved a visit to White Scar Cave in the Yorkshire Dales. She has also appeared in features connected with places such as Smithills Estate and Grizedale Forest.

These reports have allowed her to discuss subjects including:

• Wildlife
• Woodland
• Landscapes
• Outdoor activities
• Countryside
• Environmental issues
• Local heritage

Such assignments are a natural extension of weather broadcasting because weather influences tourism, farming, wildlife, travel, and outdoor recreation.

Her follower count has changed over time, so exact numbers should not be treated as permanent.

Jo Blythe on X

Jo also maintains an X account using the handle @JoBlytheTV.

Her profile has included the playful description “Weather Witch ITV.” This is a nickname rather than an official professional title.

She joined the platform in February 2012, and her account has attracted a substantial audience. Her posts have covered weather updates, ITV-related content, charity activity, and interactions with viewers.

She has served as a patron and ambassador for Labels for CARES, an organisation that raises funds by selling donated designer clothing and other items.

Her involvement also connects two areas that appear frequently in her public activities: media visibility and fashion.

There are various online claims about her marriage, relationships, or possible divorce. However, these claims are not consistently supported by strong evidence.

No reliable public source clearly establishes the name of a husband or partner, wedding details, or a confirmed divorce.

The safest conclusion is that Jo chooses to keep her romantic life private.

Does Jo Blythe Have Children?

Jo Blythe is publicly described as a mother of two.

Beyond that basic information, details about her children are limited. Their names, ages, birthdays, and other personal information have not been reliably confirmed through strong public sources.

However, this educational detail has not been strongly confirmed through an official university profile, ITV biography, or direct interview.

Her long broadcasting career demonstrates substantial professional experience, but her complete educational background remains less documented than her television career.

Where Does Jo Blythe Live?

Jo Blythe’s current home address and exact place of residence are not publicly confirmed.

There is no reliable public figure for Jo Blythe’s exact net worth.

Celebrity wealth websites sometimes publish estimated figures, but these numbers are generally not supported by financial statements, official salary information, property records, or direct comments from Jo.

Her income may include television presenting and other media-related work, but there is no dependable public source confirming a specific annual salary.

Therefore, any exact net-worth or salary figure should be treated as speculation.

Why Is Jo Blythe Popular?

Jo Blythe’s lasting television presence can be linked to her consistent broadcasting style and connection with regional audiences.

She explains weather information in accessible language and generally combines professionalism with a friendly tone.

Her public profile has also expanded beyond television through social media, where fashion, charity work, personal interests, and behind-the-scenes content give audiences another way to connect with her.

For many viewers, familiar weather presenters become part of their regular daily routine. Jo’s long association with ITV has helped create that familiarity.

Final Thoughts

Jo Blythe has developed a long-running career as an ITV weather presenter, particularly through her work with ITV Granada and audiences across North West England.

Since beginning her ITV weather career in 2001, she has worked across regional and national television, taken part in outdoor features, presented documentary-style programmes, and supported charitable causes.

Some details about her personal life are less certain. Her commonly reported age, education, marriage status, net worth, parents, siblings, and home location should be treated carefully unless supported by reliable evidence.
